Heather Posner

Heather has been working with young children for the last several years while completing her Master of Fine Arts degree in Cinema, as well as studying Early Childhood Education.  She is now fortunate enough to be the camp coordinator at The Bay Area Discovery Museum where she loves to see young children expressing their playful spirits daily.

Kathleen Sheridan

Kathleen is the Public Programs Coordinator. Growing up in Corte Madera, Kathleen remembers visiting the Museum when she was five years old.  She is an avid traveler: she has lived in South America, and she recently visited China, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. She loves anything related to water, so ask her about free diving for abalone in Mendocino county.

Camp Specialist

Andrea Walsh

Andrea is a Montessori trained educator and has been teaching children for 9 years.  Although this is her first year teaching at the Museum, she has prior camp and preschool experience.  She lives with her husband and 5 year old daughter, Sydney, in San Anselmo.  Andrea and her family enjoy sailing the bay. 


Dara Juels

Dara is a credentialed teacher who has experience working with children of all ages.  She is delighted to be a specialist at Bay Area Discovery Museum where she is free to combine her background in the arts with her love of working with children.

Donna Johansen

Practicing yoga for more than 6 years, Donna was inspired by her daughters, ages 6 and 3, to attain her teaching certification through IYK.  Drawing upon her continuing education of herbal medicine and work as a massage technician, she provides a more holistic practice for students.  As a volunteer and educator in children’s garden programs, she believes in the importance of teaching our connection to nature.  Her vision integrates yoga and breath, with art, music and nature guiding children and young adults to a place of awareness and compassion.

Heather Selby

Heather is a Marin County native with a BA in Child Development. She loves developing new art and science curriculum as well as playing a good ole fashion game of capture the flag. When Heather isn't working with children she loves to travel, spend time outdoors, and find a great new restaurant to eat at. Heather looks forward to spending her summer on the bay and meeting lots of new children from all over the county.

Lia Sutton

June 23-27:

Lia Sutton graduated from Hampshire College with a Bachelors of Arts in May 2005.  She has worked at the Adventure Playground in Berkeley, CA and volunteered at Kinderparadijis in the Netherlands. During the school year she teaches Kid’s Carpentry, and will be bringing her expertise in building to the Bay Area Discovery Museum for the first time this summer!

Naomi Rifkin

This will be Naomi’s second year bringing her innovative teaching to the museum.  She works tirelessly throughout the year teaching art to children in schools throughout the Bay Area, and has a passion for process based art.

Rachel Stegman

a professional aerialist with Gregangelo & Velocity Circus, has been teaching aerial acrobatics to children and adults for over 10 years through Velocity Circus, Trapeze Arts in Oakland, and at a camp in Pennsylvania.  Rachel has been teaching the BADM Acrobatic and Aerial Arts camp since 2005,


Seanessy Gavin

June 23-27:

Seanessy has been working closely with children and loving every moment of it for the past four years. She is very exited to return for her second year as a specialist at the Bay Area Discovery Museum Summer Camp to enjoy the unique and amazing educational setting the museum has to offer. She can't wait to see you in camp!

Samay Israel 

Samay has over five years experience in circus arts training, including several years working with Rachel Stegman.  Samay taught last year's Acrobatic and Aerial Arts camp alongside Rachel, and really enjoyed the experience.  She looks forward to returning again this year as the main instructor for the final two weeks of camp. 

Rebecca Burgess

Rebecca has a background as a social sciences teacher, and traditional textile artist.  Her current work focuses on how to create lasting learning experiences that are relevant to our contemporary human needs and potential.  Her teaching foundation is based in creating experiences that illuminate and support our connection and individual roles as members of ecological systems.   She runs a private practice merging educational therapy with the arts.  Outside of the one-to-one therapeutic model, she works with groups of students in school settings teaching the practice of ecological arts.  This practice merges ethnobotanical practices from both local native cultures, and indigenous peoples throughout the world who remain close to the spirit of nature

Cass Bell

Cass may be familiar to some Museum visitors from her time working as a Discovery Guide.  She left us to attend her first year at Boston where she  focused on Literature and Spanish language and culture.  Beyond work you can find Cass exploring the great outdoors hiking, camping, or biking. 

Hillary Katsin

Natalie Ernst

This will be Natalie’s second summer as a counselor at The Bay Area Discovery Museum.  Natalie is an expert gymnast, and actress, and has a strong background in child development! 

Lucy Rosenbloom

June 23-27

Many campers may recognize Lucy, as this is her third year working with Discovery Camps.  After graduating from Tamalpais High School, she headed across the bay to UC Berkeley focusing on Geography and American Studies. She is also a member of the UCB ultimate Frisbee team. 


Mia Torres

This summer is Mia’s first year teaching camps at the Museum.  She is returning to her native Fairfax, after completing her first year studying photography at NYU.  In her spare time, Mia reads, cooks, and takes photos. Mia is a veteran camp counselor and has tons of experience doing art with children!

Spencer Spezzano

June 23-27
- Treasure Hunt AM & PM

Spencer just finished his first year at UC Santa Cruz as an American Studies Major.  He is inspired by children’s creative imagination and sense of individuality.  In his spare time, Spencer plays basketball, football, and soccer.  He can be found relaxing with friends when not participating in some type of sport.

Claire Siegel

Will be a Junior at Tam High School next year and loves languages and art. She has loved being around young children since she was one herself, and can't wait to start her first term at the Bay Area Discovery museum this spring!

Jacynda Oun

Jacynda is a going to be a Junior at Branson School, where she is a member of the Track and Field team, and runs the diversity club.  She likes listening to all types of music and spending time with her dog Simba! 

Jessica Tai

June 23-27
- House of Samba PM

Jessica will be attending the San Francisco Art Institute in the fall of 2008.  She also fondly remembers coming to camp at the museum as a child!  In her free time Jessica takes photos, bikes, and reads.  She loves old machinery, old books, and photographs.
