Biographies


Richard Winefield
Executive Director

Richard Winefield comes to the Museum from KQED, where he served as the Vice President for Interactive and Educational Services. He holds a Doctorate in Education from Harvard University and is a noted author of several articles and books, including Never the Twain Shall Meet, a book on educational policy and handicapped children. During his 25+ years of successfully leading organizations focused on educating children, he served as CEO and Superintendent of Schools for the Orinda Union School District and the Assistant Superintendent of Schools for the Oakland Unified School District. Winefield has also worked in the private sector as a consultant focusing on organizational strategy and change implementation. Winefield and his wife have two children and live in Orinda.


Eve Niquette

President, Board of Trustees

Eve Niquette is a community leader beginning her first year as President of the Board of Trustees. She grew up in Vermont and attended Boston University where she received a B.S., B.A. and Ed.M. After moving to San Francisco, she taught middle and high school math in the Piedmont Unified School District. She became an active participant on the Discovery Council following the birth of her first daughter, and served as Spring Event Co-Chair in 2001 and Vice-President in 2002-03. She and her husband, Charles Pohl, live in San Francisco with their three daughters, Geneva, Charlotte and Sophira.
